St. Columbanus – 1,400 Anniversary
St. Columbanus is a man of first in Irish history. The first Irish writer to leave a literary corpus, he is the first Irishman in the surviving literature to describe himself as Irish and to give an account of Irish identity.
May no trial, no trouble, no oppression, no hunger,
no poverty, no death, nothing sad, nothing joyful, nothing just or unjust separate us from Christ
so that he may dwell within us here,
and we may abide with him forever and ever. Amen.
